Foundation
Is your foundation damaged?
Do you have a problem with excessive humidity in your basement?
Prevent future damage by waterproofing your foundation against humidity.
If you own a home or business, you should consider foundation waterproofing.
Why have a waterproof membrane installed?
A protective membrane provides protection against water and humidity. The more your foundation is damp proof and waterproof, the more you will be able to prevent water damage to the basement and make it last longer!
Save money and improve your comfort with exterior insulation.
Save money and improve your comfort with exterior insulation.
This insulation technique assures you the following advantages:
- Greater comfort
- Lower energy expenses
- Increased lifespan of concrete (because it stays warm)
- Greater building value
- Reduced risk of problems related to freezing
The importance of protecting your foundation
Unfortunately, foundation protection all too often boils down to the application of a thin layer of tar, which is ineffective. However, there are other more appropriate techniques for the exterior protection of foundations.
Water and frost are 2 elements that are very damaging to concrete and in Québec, we have plenty of both. Installation of an effective membrane will protect the foundation, since it will prevent water from penetrating into the pores of the concrete, which will degrade the foundation. In many cases, the water will even make its way inside the basement and create mould without you knowing it.
Paradoxically, although forming the starting point of any project, there is little if any interest in this substructure… However, the damage potential is very real (leaks, seepage, cracks, etc.) and leads to expensive repair costs.
Solutions available
Various solutions for foundation protection are available (tar coating, elastomeric membrane, etc.). At SOS Sous-Sol, we developed a proprietary method of applying an elastomeric membrane, increasing effectiveness.

How do we install the elastomeric membrane?
- The foundation is washed first with a pressure-washer (the foundation must be completely clean before applying the membrane).
- The foundation is dried with a blow torch, and then cleaned.
- On the surface of the foundation, below ground level, we spray or apply by hand the liquid elastomeric membrane best suited for your project.
- The Delta MS below-grade dimpled membrane for drainage is installed according to the manufacturer’s specifications over the elastomeric membrane.
- Before sealing the Delta membrane, we install the black-coloured mould strips around window and door openings and flashing at the finishing edges.
- To complete the job, Delta sealant is applied to prevent water infiltration between the Delta membrane and the foundation.
